2023 Tour Site Information

Western States Equipment: This tour will take place on Friday, April 7th at 12:00pm. The tour will begin promptly at 12:15pm so please arrive on time.

  • Closed toed shoes are required. Safety glasses will be required as well – please bring your own!

Western Aircraft: This tour will take place on Friday, April 7th. The tour will begin promptly at 1:00pm so please arrive on time.

  • No PPE required!

Western Aircraft has been an FAA certificated repair station since 1957. We maintain aircraft in 5 hangars totaling over 150,000 square feet. We service corporate and private aviation customers who operate Pilatus, Gulfstream, Falcon, Citation, King Air, Piper, and other similar aircraft. We are currently certified through Canadian, European, and Mexican government aviation agencies as well. In addition to maintaining aircraft, Western Aircraft also owns and charters aircraft. We are a dealer for Pilatus and Piper aircraft. We have a fueling operation that provides fuel for commercial and military aircraft. And we have a parts distribution business selling aircraft parts all over the world. Tour will be led by the Engineering Supervisor, Jacob Stafford, MBA.

  • Visitors may park in any parking lot
  • Tour will begin in Hangar 1 – look for the tall flag poles (Map attached here)

Larry Miller Collision Center: This tour will take place on Friday, April 7th at 12:00pm. The tour will begin promptly 12:15pm so please arrive on time.

  • Closed toed shoes are required. Safety glasses will be required as well – please bring your own!

Larry Miller Collision Center is a full-service Collision Repair Facility. Tour participants will see the various stages of the collision repair process from estimating, structural analysis, body repair, refinishing, and detailing.

  • Parking is limited; carpooling is encouraged

REYCO Systems – Caldwell: This tour will take place on Friday, April 7th at 12:00pm. The tour will begin promptly at 12:15pm so please arrive on time.

  • Closed toed shoes are required. Safety glasses, high visibility vests, and hearing protection will be required, but will be provided by the company!

Students will experience the process of a project through Engineering to Production. Areas of focus will be: 3D Modeling, Laser, Press Brake, CNC Machining, Fabrication, Passivation, and Quality Assurance.

  • Official Skills USA Dress required
  • Long pants required with no frayed edges, shoes with closed toes and heels, no high heels, no dangling or loose jewelry or sleeves.
  • Long hair must be restrained.

Idaho Power: This tour will take place on Friday, April 7th at 12:00pm. The tour will begin promptly at 12:15pm so please arrive on time.

  • Closed toed shoes are required. Safety glasses will be required as well, but will be provided by the company!

Students and advisors will explore a variety of career fields at Idaho Power including the Vehicle and Equipment Maintenance Garage, Fabrication and Machine Shop, Electrical Transformer Repair and Rebuilt Shop, Safety Equipment Testing Labs, and the Substation Electrical Wiring Shop.

2023 SLSC Dress Code

Thursday, Technical Competitions: appropriate contest attire, as referenced in Technical Standards or on Contest Updates by Chairs.
Thursday, Opening Ceremony: contest attire or school/work-appropriate casual attire. State Officers and State Officer Candidates should be in Official Attire.
Thursday, Champions Night at Wahooz: school/work-appropriate casual attire/conference t-shirts.

Friday, Leadership Competitions: SkillsUSA Official Attire.
Friday, Career Fair: SkillsUSA Official Attire.
Friday, Industry Tours: SkillsUSA Official Attire.
Friday, Closing Ceremony: SkillsUSA Official Attire.

  • Note: All medalists will need to be in SkillsUSA Official Attire to go on stage to receive their medals.
  • Official contest attire is required for closing ceremonies (SkillsUSA Official blazer, white shirt/blouse, black pants/skirt, closed-toed shoes). In the event students do not have official attire, please seek assistance from other chapters.
  • If students are wearing inappropriate clothing (not in official attire), they will NOT be allowed to walk on stage at the awards ceremony.

The State leadership and skills conference is a showcase of students career and technical skills. It is a great place for your chapter and students to gain publicity and recognition for your accomplishments. Students who do well at state competitions will have the opportunity to compete in the national competitions.
